  1. And the funny thing is, you would only be saving for real, a couple of bucks!!!! Buy American! Always!!!!

  2. Why never to buy Chinese anything. Shure some items are okay, but most can be bootlegged to rediculous lengths. Bootlegs are everywhere it takes expert to find em.

  3. Hah. I just got done smoking a bowl of Royal Yacht in one of those Chinese cobs, and I was a pretty good smoke. I wouldn't ever buy one, but this one was sitting in my cob box so I decided to experiment. I'll stick with my MM Legends and Huck Finns, thank you very much.

  4. I'm on my third year straight with the pipe tobacco of the month club. Compared to a genuine MM cob, yes those Chinese cobs are more or less shit, and I would never recommend them to anyone when you can pay a couple bucks more and get a far better pipe that will last a lifetime … That said, the Chinese cobs really aren't as bad you'd think. I still use the first ones I got when I started getting them a few years ago – And to be honest, I have several that smoke every bit as good as a MM, if not better. They seem to do especially well with burleys like Carter Hall, Prince Albert, Missouri Pride – to name a few – but even many Englishes and other "top shelf" blends tend do quite well in them. One of the best smokes I've ever had was a bowl of Dunhill Aperitif in a Chinese cob. Not once has one burnt out or gone up in flames or anything crazy like that – and that's over 50+ Chinese cob pipes!.

The biggest downside to the Chinese cobs, in my opinion, is the lack of quality control. There are far too many that are so poorly made that you cant even smoke them brand new. Many of the bottoms have holes, the pith is often soft and weak (as you demonstrated), the shanks tend to leak air etc etc. Again, hardly worth the trouble when you can just get a nice MM. But, for what they are, they're really not all that bad. At least not as bad as everyone makes them out to be. That's been my experience anyways.

As with any pipe, they do get better in time as you smoke them. The trick is to smoke them slow and cool at first. The pith will dry out and harden a bit, making them much more durable. Again, not worth the effort when you can just get a MM, but, because I get them in my PTOTMC, I do smoke them. I can therefore assure anyone that while they are junk in comparison to a genuine MM cob, they can and many times do in fact smoke quite well.

  5. I'm going to buy a MM today. I know walgreens has them. I bought a cob my smoke shop sells but it was a one of these Chinese cobs. it smoked okay. but the bottom busted, it's all chard up.

  6. After I saw this video, I went and pulled the stickers off all my corncobs. Sure enough the two from china didn't have a wood plug in the bottom. 40 min later I'd fashioned 2 of my own and sanded them down to fit perfectly. Problem solved. But I have to say it wasn't a problem anyway, I've had both for a couple years and smoke regularly so it can't be that catastrophic.

  7. I think there is one use for these, and that's just for the stems. Most pipe stems can cost as much as just getting a new pipe, so this could be a way to get cheap stems if they could fit.

  8. hahahaha, don't you know most of everything we have is shipped in you shouldn't believe every sticker you see on a product

  11. Metal head cigar guy made a video a while back about PnC sending those pipes out with their tobacco of the month or whatever it called.  Basically the person who ordered for that new program was a noob and didnt realize that those pipes are crap… so they have a ton that they need to get rid of.  Once they do they are switching to MM pipes… or so they say.  But yeah I wouldn't waste my money unless its for an ornament or something other than actually smoking out of
